"A World at Prayer is a World at Peace®: The Rosary Bowl" is a multi-cultural Rosary celebration for world peace and the largest outdoor recitation of the Rosary in Southern California in 50 years

Saturday, May 19, 2007, The Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA
What are the times for The Rosary Bowl?

Who is sponsoring the event?
Holy Cross Family Ministries, Easton, MA, and its local member Family Theater Productions, Hollywood, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Holy Cross Family Ministries is comprised of ministries founded by Servant of God Father Patrick Peyton, the “Rosary priest,” and who coined the slogans “The Family that Prays Together, Stays Together™” and “A World at Prayer is a World at Peace®.”
Why is the event being held?
The Rosary Bowl is being held in order to encourage Catholics and others to enhance their faith through prayer of the Rosary. Twenty-eight million people world-wide have attended 40 such events organized and conducted by Servant of God Father Peyton, now a sainthood candidate, over four decades and found them to be great experiences of the Christian community. And there is a long tradition in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles of Rosary events, called Mary’s Hour, held in the Los Angeles Coliseum in the 1950s and 1960s. So Holy Cross Family Ministries in 2005 sought approval from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and received it in December 2005 and created a Core Committee that began meeting in January 2006. Holy Cross Family Ministries, offering services and programs in English and in Spanish, thought it appropriate to publicly announce The Rosary Bowl on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, December 12, 2006.
The Rosary Bowl seeks:
- To enhance the prayer lives of our families, ourselves and our communities;
- To strengthen unity in our homes and communities
- To help foster world peace
What is the specific intention being prayed for?
World peace and the strength and unity of families around the globe, especially in war-torn areas
What is the cost of admission?
It’s free, but tickets will be needed for entry. Tickets will be distributed through parishes, from The Rosary Bowl headquarters at Family Theater Productions and ticket requests will be available through The Rosary Bowl website. Also, advance donations to help defray the huge expenses of this event can be made online at the Holy Cross Family Ministries website or by calling 1-800-874-0999, Ext. 22.
How is the event being organized?
A Core Committee comprised of 13 subcommittees of volunteers is planning the event in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Bishop Oscar Solis is the archdiocesan director of The Rosary Bowl. The committee is using Father Peyton’s Rosary Handbook, an organizational campaign strategy to plan the event. Father Peyton used this methodology to conduct 40 Rosary prayer rallies around the world. Integral to the plan is Father Peyton’s “Six Mountains,” to be “scaled” for a successful event:
- A public Holy Hour for 40 days in each parish
- 40 Masses celebrated in each parish
- Sunday Sermons on the importance of the Family Rosary
- Catholic School Campaign on the Rosary and its importance
- Harnessing the spiritual power of the sick
- The Rosary prayer event itself.
